2009: Baha’i Centre opened. Site previously railway terminus and then ABC carpark.
The building was purpose built to celebrate and manifest the Baha’i faith.
The building tells me about the people who built it.
The building. Flows smoothly. Nothing jars. The building respects the environment.
Round building built around an existing plane tree.
Café soft soothing music.
Energy efficient. Double glazed skylights.
Temperature controlled by air circulation, convection and venting.
Walls and roof insulated with recycled newspapers.
Polished concrete floor passive solar heating, stores the heat.
Plant based paints. Natural dyes and fabrics.
Tanks collect rainwater from the roof.

The building also tells me about the Baha’i Religion. The building says beauty, harmony, tolerance.

Baha’u’llah was the prophet founder of the faith. Born in 1817. Born in Persia. He wrote that all religions have value. It is now time for all humans to come together in peace and unity to build heaven on earth.
5 to 8 million Bahai’s around the world.
