​Alfred’s feeling religious walk

Start with St David’s Cathedral.
Up Murray St (north) to Melville St.
Turn right. Pass the old Temperance Hall.
Elizabeth St. Turn left and walk up a block. The Full Gospel Church commanding presence.
Down Brisbane St (away from mountain) until Argyll St.  
Down Argyll St (south) until Bathurst St.
Intersection of Argyll St and Bathurst St.
Cross Bathurst St to see the synagogue.
Turn left to see Scots memorial Church.
Down Bathurst St towards the river. Away from the mountain. A pedestrian overpass. University Rose gardens.
Via railway roundabout to ABC Centre and then the B’ahai centre.
 
Alfred’s feeling religious walk includes:
Two traditional sandstone church buildings.
In the Gothic style typical of Hobart in Victorian era.
Sandstone: Soft. Wears away.  Need continual maintenance.
Height: Bell tower and spire. Church built highest suitable and available spot.
Ornate decorations:  stained glass windows, arches.
 
A church which has been resurrected as a cross cultural church.
 
Synagogue. A tour of the synagogue requires planning.
 
B’ahai Centre. A modern building. Café for nourishment.
